Tsunan Sake Brewery Launches New Label “GO TERRACE” on August 4, 2025, to Address Rice Supply and Demand

Exterior of GO TERRACE

Tsunan Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Tsunan-machi, Nakauonuma-gun, Niigata Prefecture; President: Kengo Suzuki; hereinafter “Tsunan Sake Brewery”) launched sales of its new junmai daiginjo sake “GO TERRACE” on Monday, August 4, 2025.
While also brewed with Uonuma-grown Koshihikari rice, this product differs from the “GO GRANDCLASS Uonuma Koshihikari Edition” – which has been primarily intended for gift use – in that it is designed for casual enjoyment at restaurants, at home, and in other everyday settings.

Background: Responding to Sake Rice Supply Uncertainty and Demand for ‘Everyday’ Sake

GO TERRACE

In recent years, the Japanese sake industry has faced challenges in securing raw materials due to declining sake rice production and the impact of climate change.
Against this backdrop, Tsunan Sake Brewery has evolved its popular gift-oriented “GO GRANDCLASS Uonuma Koshihikari Edition” into a new sake for everyday occasions by utilizing table rice: “GO TERRACE.”

Conceptually inspired by relaxed moments like those spent on a terrace, “GO TERRACE” features a fragrant, light, and elegant flavor. By shifting from sake “for special days” to sake “that complements everyday life,” it opens up new possibilities for Japanese sake.

Product Concept: “Luxurious Koshihikari, Enjoyed Casually”
Leveraging the blessings of Niigata’s Uonuma region – nurtured by abundant snowmelt water – Tsunan Sake Brewery has used the “GO” brand to present diverse styles of sake. With “GO TERRACE,” we have redesigned the concept so that the unique experience of “Koshihikari sake,” once limited to a small number of recipients, can be enjoyed by a wider audience.
Offered at a price point and style suitable for everyday use, it is positioned as a new choice for dining tables and restaurants across Japan.

For overseas markets, we will continue to focus on the “GO GRANDCLASS Uonuma Koshihikari Edition,” thereby balancing brand strategies domestically and internationally.

About GO TERRACE

Named after “rice terraces,” GO TERRACE is brewed in the Uonuma area of Niigata Prefecture, a major production center of premium Koshihikari rice. The resulting junmai daiginjo sake offers a gentle sweetness from the Koshihikari, wrapped in a clean, snowmelt-like umami.

A Terroir Sake Born in a Hidden Land
Tsunan-machi, Niigata Prefecture – home to Tsunan Sake Brewery – is one of the world’s snowiest inhabited regions and has a history of human settlement going back to the Jomon period thousands of years ago. Here, riverside terraces provide the unique environment for cultivating Uonuma Koshihikari rice.
Brewed by local kurabito (brewery workers) using spring water from the mountains, “GO” represents a true terroir sake – a product in which the blessings of nature are carefully crafted by human hands.
