Delegation from Yeoju, South Korea—Sister City of Tsunan Town—Visits Tsunan Sake Brewery

Tsunan Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Tsunan Town, Nakauonuma District, Niigata Prefecture; President: Kengo Suzuki), a sake brewery located in Tsunan Town, welcomed a delegation from Yeoju, South Korea, Tsunan’s sister city, on June 12, 2025.

The visiting delegation consisted of 11 members, including officials from Yeoju City Hall and local rice farmers engaged in rice cultivation in Yeoju. They were accompanied by two staff members from the General Affairs Division of Tsunan Town Hall and an interpreter. The purpose of the visit was to learn about rice production in Japan and related facilities and initiatives. During their tour of our brewery, they observed firsthand how we craft sake using snowmelt water and locally grown rice.

We were honored that the delegation purchased Tsunan Sake Brewery’s sake, including some as gifts for the mayor of Yeoju, and that our sake could serve as a bridge for international exchange.

Among the visitors was a distinguished farmer who had won first prize in a rice competition in South Korea and whose rice had once been presented to the king. This farmer graciously gifted their award-winning rice to Tsunan Sake Brewery during the visit, deepening mutual understanding of agricultural culture across borders.

Looking ahead, Tsunan Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. is considering expanding into the Korean market in earnest. We hope to introduce more people overseas to the unique appeal of sake brewing nurtured by the abundant nature of snow country Tsunan. We remain committed to proposing new ways for Korean consumers to enjoy sake. By blending tradition and innovation, we aspire for Tsunan’s sake to become a symbol that connects people across borders.
