Tsunan Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. (Headquartered in Tsunan Town, Nakauonuma District, Niigata Prefecture; President: Kengo Suzuki) participated in the awards ceremony for the “FY2024 Echigo-Style Sake Brewing Technical Competition,” held on April 24, 2025, at the Kashiwazaki City Industrial Cultural Hall.

This competition, organized by the Niigata Sake Brewers Association and the Niigata Prefecture Sake Brewing Technology Research Association, aims to enhance and preserve the sake brewing techniques of Niigata—a region long celebrated for its superior sake craftsmanship. As previously announced, Tsunan Sake Brewery was honored with the Governor’s Prize (First Place) in this year’s competition.

At the awards ceremony, surrounded by distinguished guests and fellow brewers from across the prefecture, our chief brewer, Masaya Takizawa, attended as a representative of the brewery. He was also selected to deliver the official remarks on behalf of all award recipients.
In his speech, Takizawa expressed his deep gratitude to local rice farmers who cultivated premium Gohyakumangoku sake rice, to advisory institutions and technical experts for their valuable guidance, and to the blessings of Tsunan’s pure spring water. He also noted the challenges faced during the past brewing season due to unusually high temperatures, and emphasized the importance of continuing to improve techniques while honoring the traditions of Japanese sake making.

Tsunan Sake Brewery remains committed to the pursuit of sake that reflects the harmony of science and tradition, and to supporting the future of Niigata’s brewing culture.
