Tsunan Brewery Co., Ltd. held a GO Brand tasting event at the boarding gate area of Haneda Airport from September 29 to October 1, 2023, in cooperation with the Central Association of Sake Brewers of Japan. This tasting was one of the contents of the “Let’s Drink Nippon! Japanese Sake Campaign” and was held with the aim of introducing the Tsunan area’s attractions and Tsunan Brewery’s GO brand sake to a large number of foreigners on an international stage.
Tsunan Brewery is located in the Tsunan area of Niigata Prefecture, an area that boasts one of the largest snowfalls in the world. People have lived in this area since the Jomon period, thousands of years ago, and water, soil, and people have miraculously coexisted for more than 1,000 years in the harsh environment of this area with heavy snowfall. In this beautiful natural environment, Tsunan Brewery, established primarily by local producers, has created the GO brand, expressing the tradition of sake and the nature of Niigata.
At the tasting, the GO GRAND CLASS 720ml attracted particular attention. This product is positioned as the highest quality of the GO brand, and the annual production quantity is very limited. It is a junmai daiginjo made from Niigata Prefecture’s Gohyakumangoku rice and carefully brewed with a rice polishing ratio of 40%. The brewers at Tsunan Brewery spent a lot of time and effort to brew this sake, taking advantage of the unique conditions of this region, especially the pure mountain spring water and the “Gohyakumangoku” sake rice grown on the river terraces. The background and taste of GO GRAND CLASS were highly appreciated and well received by the participants.
Tsunan Brewery plans to continue to enhance the value of the GO brand while aggressively expanding overseas. Based on the company’s concept of “Knowing our hometown,” Tsunan Brewery plans to continue to actively promote the GO brand overseas. as a foundation, Tsunan Brewery will further expand its overseas contacts and continue to disseminate information to bring Tsunan’s sake and the charm of the region to people around the world.
Let’s drink Nippon! About the Japanese Sake Campaign
As part of the Japanese government’s “Action Program for the Realization of a Tourism Nation,” the government (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Japan Tourism Agency), international hub airports (Narita, Haneda, Chubu, Kansai) and the sake brewing industry have joined forces to promote Japanese sake (Japanese sake, authentic shochu, awamori, etc.) to foreign tourists visiting Japan. The campaign is conducted by the Japan Sake Brewers Association (JSBA).
Campaign booths will be set up in the duty-free area so that foreign visitors to Japan can casually enjoy Japanese sake. The campaign also introduces traditional Japanese culture and tourism resources, such as how to drink Japanese sake, production methods, and breweries that foreigners can visit.
