Tsunan Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. Appoints New CEO: Courtesy Visit to Mayor of Tsunanmachi

On Monday, December 4, 2023, Kengo Suzuki, the newly appointed CEO of Tsunan Sake Brewery Co., Ltd., located in Tsunanmachi, Nakauonuma District, Niigata Prefecture, paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Haruka Kuwabara of Tsunanmachi to report on his new appointment.

Tsunan Sake Brewery held its 70th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders on Sunday, December 3, 2023, appointing Kengo Suzuki as the new CEO. The visit included a report on this appointment and a discussion on future business activities in Tsunanmachi.

Tsunan Sake Brewery is exploring contributions to local events, particularly considering participation in a new form in next year’s “Tsunan Snow Festival & SNOWWAVE2024,” following this year’s involvement. Additionally, the “Echigo-Tsumari Art Field” in the area, including Tsunanmachi, draws international attention and is held from mid-July to November (scheduled for July 13 to November 10, 2024). This event is expected to attract many visitors, including inbound travelers, and Tsunan Sake Brewery reported considering this opportunity to exhibit and sell its products.

Tsunanmachi boasts diverse industries, including agriculture (Koshihikari rice, snow-covered carrots, asparagus, sweet corn, Casablanca lilies), tourism (Echigo-Tsumari Art Field, sky lanterns, snow), manufacturing (non-ferrous metal, Clear Water, Japanese sake), and education (geoparks, the Naeba mountain). Discussions were held on how Tsunan Sake Brewery could develop alongside these industries.

Addressing population decline, reshuffling the industrial portfolio, strengthening regional collaboration, and enhancing international outreach were identified as key challenges for regional revitalization in Tsunanmachi. Tsunan Sake Brewery committed to exploring contributions to these challenges as a local private enterprise.
